FLUORIDE
Fluoride is a naturally-occurring mineral that helps prevent cavities by strengthening the tooth's enamel. We receive fluoride through our food and drinking water, but often times the dosage is too small to adequately protect our teeth. This is where professional fluoride treatment becomes a necessity.
Professional fluoride treatments generally take just a few minutes to complete. The dentist or dental hygienist will apply fluoride as either a gel or varnish. Sometimes a mouth guard full of fluoride foam may be used. After a fluoride treatment, it is generally advisable to not eat or drink for 30 minutes. This is to give the fluoride enough time to absorb into the teeth and form a strong protective barrier
