NIGHT GUARDS
If you are noticing grinding or clinching of your teeth, or perhaps headaches or tightness of the jaw, a night guard might be what your need. A night guard is a thin transparent device that is worn over the biting surface of your teeth while you sleep to prevent contact between the upper and lower teeth. Your dentist will evaluate your history and the wear on your teeth to see if you are a good candidate for a night guard.
Night Guard Appointment
This process involves two appointments. During the first appointment, impressions are taken of your upper and lower teeth as well as impressions of your bite. These impressions are used to create models of your upper and lower jaw arches, which are sent to the lab. The lab fabricates a precise upper night guard (you only wear it on one arch) which will be delivered to you in 1-2 weeks from the impression appointment. During the seating/delivering appointment, Dr. Garanzuay will make sure the night guard fits properly by making small adjustments and checking your bite. Home care instructions will be given to you.
